The kitchen reno we started in January has been the biggest project we’ve ever tackled. Removing a load-bearing wall required a structural engineer, permits and contractors. As DIYers that was very foreign. Living without a kitchen for 4 months – with 3 kids – is back to sounding like crazy talk and not something I’m actually doing. We completed the backsplash a week and a half ago so I’m calling it officially finished. I’m putting together a kitchen series for the blog in the lull before we start on the laundry room and while Kevin works on never-ending finish carpentry work.
My favorite thing? The custom, rustic walnut drawer and cabinet fronts
we Kevin made. He did a great job sequencing them and the end result is exactly what we wanted.
FYI – Island is Ikea SEKTION kitchen framework with RINGHULT high gloss gray on the sides and organic white quartz counter.
